Connect Claude to Bearousel

Bearousel uses Claude to write carousel slides and captions. Connect an Anthropic API key, choose a model, and test the connection.

How to set up Claude

  1. Create an Anthropic account and add API credits

Go to platform.claude.com and sign in, or create an account. The old console.anthropic.com address redirects there. API usage is prepaid with credits and billed separately from any Claude.ai plan. In the Console, open Settings, then Billing, click Buy credits, and add a payment method and credits.

  2. Create an API key

In the Console, open Settings, then API keys, and click Create key. Give the key a name and scope it to a single workspace. Copy the full key when it appears.

  3. Choose Claude in Bearousel

Open Settings and click the "AI" tab. Under "Writing provider", click the "Anthropic" card. Choose "Claude Sonnet 5" (the default) or "Claude Opus 5" in the "Model" menu. Paste your key into "API key" and click "Save key". Bearousel shows "Saved in Keychain".

  4. Test the connection

Click "Test connection". The button reads "Testing…" while it runs. A working connection shows a line such as "Connected to <model> in <n> s".

What you get

  • Write carousel slides and captions with Claude Sonnet 5 or Claude Opus 5.
  • Choose the model in Settings, AI.

What it costs

Anthropic bills Claude usage to your Anthropic account from prepaid API credits. A Claude.ai plan does not cover API usage. As of October 2, 2026, Anthropic lists Claude Sonnet 5 at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Prices can change; check Anthropic’s pricing page.

Your key and your data

The key is stored in your Mac's Keychain under the service "Bearousel Public" with the account name "anthropic". The provider choice and model are saved in provider.json; the key is not. Each writing request, including "Test connection", goes through Loud Unicorn's generation server, which uses the key for that one call and passes it to the provider. Loud Unicorn does not save the key, the text or the result.

Limits to know

  • Bearousel offers Claude Sonnet 5 and Claude Opus 5.
  • Provider tests and writing require an active trial or license.
